1. Most investment bankers get degrees in Finance. Some get degrees in economics or mathematics. Few have degrees in other fields.

2. I would have to disagree, investment banking is very popular and in high-demand by college graduates. It may not be a honorable profession because of the recent financial crisis and general view people have on i-bankers. But that's hogwash.

3. It is extremely competitive, even more so now after the recent bank failures. There are thousands of graduates seeking a handful of i-banking positions.

1. Investment bankers get degrees in finance, math, and economics.

2. It is very popular, with the supply of workers far outstripping demand. If you went to a top school like harvard, you would see this. If you do not, it is not as popular because in a state like say...Arizona, there are only two potential investment banks, and therefore very little job opportunity.

3. It is very difficult to get a job, even with a top degree. 95% of those who get employed go to New York, London, Tokyo, or San Fransisco. But you will need top grades from a top university to work at any of those places. Otherwise, with a normal university degree (non-target for on-campus recruiters), check out all local investment banks and try to get in contact with their recruiters.

good luck.
